1. Summary field: clearer, sharper, and now a real key highlight
To avoid confusion in the backoffice, we’ve made it much more explicit that the SUMMARY field is not the article body.
Your SUMMARY now plays a much bigger role in how content is consumed:
Appears directly in the content feed - perfect for content skimmers who need the essence at a glance.
Acts as a true TL;DR - giving comms teams a powerful way to convey the key message in seconds.
Boosts reach without extra clicks - since not all users open the full article, a strong title + summary already ensures your main message lands.
Contact [email protected] if you’d like summary enabled for your organisation.
2. See activated users per site
The user management overview already showed who is active or inactive, but it wasn’t possible to filter this view—making it difficult to analyse usage per site or location.
You can now filter users by site/location, allowing you to quickly identify and share which groups of employees may need an extra nudge toward activation.
This is by default available as of the latest back-office release v53.5.0
3. Support for notifications to private email addresses
Email notifications can now be sent to employees’ private email addresses as well. Until now, notifications were only sent to the public email field.
Users can always disable/enable this in their personal settings themselves, so no need to worry about spamming your employees.
Contact [email protected] if you’d like this enabled for your organisation.
4. Backoffice article ID now visible in publication preview
When previewing a publication, you can now see the article’s backoffice ID for easy reference at the top right corner.
Because the preview URL is anonymized for security reasons, it wasn’t always convenient to trace a shared preview back to the correct article. This update resolves that.
The preview feature remains a powerful way to validate content internally. Anyone with access to your Spencer app can open a preview link—no backoffice access required—making it simple to share a draft with your CEO for approval or to double-check how your content will appear.
You’ll find the preview button at the bottom of your article. Make sure to save your article as a draft first to enable the preview option.
