Creating a Google Play Developer Account

This guide explains each step required to create a developer account for an organisation on the Google Play Console

Before You Start: Google Play Store Account Setup

To create a Google Play Store account, you need a Google account.

When setting up a new Google account, you can choose to link your existing business email address instead of creating a new @gmail.com address.

1. Account Type

Select "Organisation" during signup.


2. What You'll Need

Prepare the following:

  • Official business email

  • Business registration documents

  • Legal name and address of the organisation

  • A valid payment method


3. Developer Name

Enter your company name here — this name will be publicly visible on your app’s Play Store listing.


4. Payments Profile

Set up your Google Payments Merchant Account:

  • Fill in tax information, legal business address, and banking details. ( D-U-N-S number). If you are not able to find your Duns number, let us know and reach out to [email protected]

    If you’re unable to locate your D-U-N-S number, we’re happy to help—just contact us at [email protected].


5. Your Organization

Provide:

  • Organisation size

  • Organisation phone number

  • Organisation website


6. Public Developer Profile

Customize your public-facing info:


7. About You

Google may ask for:

  • Your role in the organization

  • Personal identification (passport or driver’s license)


8. Apps

Enter the following information:

  • Number of apps: 1

  • Earning money on Google Play: No

  • App categories: Leave blank


9. How Google Contacts You

Confirm an active, monitored email.
This is used for important notices and policy updates.


10. Terms

Review and accept the Google Play Developer Distribution Agreement and select the first two checkboxes to confirm your agreement and understanding.


Final Step: Submit for Verification

After you complete all sections:

  • Submit the account for verification

  • Upload required documents - more information can be found here

  • Wait for approval (usually within 1–2 business days)
